Sheffield Sharks secured their first win of 2008 and with it their first BBL Trophy victory of the season with a comfortable 61-78 triumph at Birmingham Panthers.

Sharks were in control throughout after fighting their way back from going down 8-0 at the start of the match. A 23-6 burst ended the first quarter for a 14-23 lead for the visitors.

After leading 35-44 at half time the Sharks made the game safe with a 10-0 tear round the third quarter break to put them 69-48 in front.

The Panthers had no answer to Sharks big man Shelby Chaney who poured in a game-high 31-points.
