Team Birmingham Panthers picked up their first win of the 2007-8 BBL Championship campaign thanks to an impressive 98-86 victory over their Midlands rivals, the Worcester Wolves at the University of Wolverhampton, Walsall Campus.

After a tight opening period, which saw the teams locked together at 28-28, it was the Wolves who started the stronger in the second period with a 15-4 burst to take the score out to 43-32. The Wolves maintained a slender advantage throughout the second quarter to lead 51-46 at the half.

The second half saw the Panthers storm out of the blocks, and a 13-1 start to the third period took the score out to 59-52, and then a further 13-1 tear midway through the quarter, including eleven points from Cameron Wright, took the score out to 76-61.

The fourth quarter saw the Panthers increase their lead to 86-65 off the back of a 7-2 start to the period. The Wolves attempted to get back into the game, and got to within eight points at 92-84 with 1.05 remaining, but the Panthers saw out the game from the foul line.

Daniel Sandell led all scorers with 38 points for the Panthers, while Anthony Paez led the Wolves' scoring with 32.
