Sheffield Sharks bounced back from defeat on Friday in impressive fashion thanks to a 66-83 road victory over fellow play-off contenders Marshall MK Lions at the Bletchley Leisure Centre on Sunday afternoon.

In a tight opening half, the Lions took the early initiative in the second quarter thanks to five points from Robert Youngblood early on to take a 31-24 lead. The Sharks responded immediately with a 10-4 tear to get back to within a point at 35-34. Both sides continued to trade baskets right up until the half, and went in tied at 41-41.

Both teams traded baskets throughout the third period, and the lead changed hands on numerous occasions, but it was the home side who lead 57-56 going into the final stanza.

The Lions rattled off the first five points of the final quarter to lead 62-56, but the Sharks bounced back with a 10-2 burst, culminating with an Atiba Lyons pair of free-throws to give them the lead at 64-66.

Peter Heizer drew the Lions level again at 66-66 with two minutes remaining, but these were the last points the Lions would score as the Sharks broke the game open, and sealed the victory with a 17-0 run to close out the game at 66-83.

Shelby Chaney led the Sharks scoring with 17 points, while Michael New also had 17 points to lead the scoring for the Lions.
